These are a few books that have impacted our coaching philosophy and approach in helping other individuals and organizations pursue meaningful change and success.
The Advice Trap. Michael Stanier
The Advice Trap explores how to avoid giving too much advice, and instead, encourages impact by learning to ask the right questions that fosters personal development in others. The book provides practical tools for effective communication and coaching. As coaches, we believe you are the expert as to what is going on inside, and we are here to help facilitate the journey of excavating and discovering that in order to help you move forward with clarity and confidence.
Essentialism. Greg McKeown
Essentialism is about simplifying your life and focusing on what truly matters. It encourages readers to prioritize their time and energy by filtering out the nonessential and saying "no" to distractions. We believe there is beauty in embracing the ‘gift of limits’ and focusing on what is most important or critical to your success, as well as utilizing your strengths to help you lead yourself and others forward towards success.
The Second Mountain David Brooks
Similar to Viktor Frankl’s classic Man’s Search for Meaning, Brooks’ The Second Mountain is a book that explores the search for meaning and a purposeful life. It challenges readers to move beyond individualistic pursuits and towards a commitment to community and service. The books intentional push towards a life of others-centeredness and service helps unlock the often puzzling question of “What am I here for?”.
The Road Back to You Ian Morgan Cron and Suzanne Stabile
Ignorance is bliss – except in self-awareness. What you don’t know about yourself can hurt you and your relationships – and even keep you in the shallows with God. Do you want help figuring out who you are and why you’re stuck in the same ruts? The Enneagram is an ancient personality typing system with an uncanny accuracy in describing how human beings are wired, both positively and negatively. In The Road Back to You, Ian Morgan Cron and Suzanne Stabile forge a unique approach – a practical, comprehensive way of accessing Enneagram wisdom and exploring its connections with Christian spirituality for a deeper knowledge of ourselves, compassion for others, and love for God
The Three Laws of Performance Steve Zaffron and Dave Logan
The laws of performance are universal. That is, any time people are involved in a situation, the laws apply. They aren’t steps or tips, but general principles that are always at work. They are also phrased in a precise way, to give maximum insight and applicability. The laws are:
1. How people perform correlates to how situations occur to them.
2. How situations occur arises in language.
3. Future based language transforms how situations occur to people.
